It's Almost Time!

So it seems that once a year I get all emotional and start thanking people as if I'm accepting some kind of academy award. In all seriousness, my life has been a journey towards staying fit for the past 8 years. A year has not gone by without me learning something new, enjoying the company of people and learning how to be a better human being. As many of you know, my most favorite race has been Hawaii 70.3 for the past five years. I truly enjoy the Hawaiian Islands in more ways than one. I know that for some, Kona represents the ultimate in triathlon racing. In my case, it is indeed a great honor to be able to race there, but you see, Hawaii reminds me of back home. The roads, the people, the environment, reminds me of my homeland, Nicaragua. It is, in a way, a safe way of "going back home" without the ugly memories of a revolution.
This year, my focus has been on training with my new coach that has become a great friend, Jennifer Hutchison, Iron Clad Coaching. Through her guidance and sometimes "tough love" I feel unbelievably ready to achieve my best race ever. It goes without saying, that I'm very blessed to have such great friends that have positively impacted my ability to stay focused and learn how to believe in myself.
As I get ready to head over to the Big Island, I want to once more convey my deepest thanks to all of you. I appreciate your support and love more than you all will ever know.
